Case Study: Seaside Resort Decking Transformation
Project Background
A Singapore-based contractor won a government tender to renovate part of a seaside resort. The largest scope involved replacing the outdoor decking, which had decayed severely from years of sun exposure, rain, and saltwater corrosion.
The Challenge
The original solid wood decking was completely worn out. The client needed a replacement material that could withstand:
• High temperatures and intense UV exposure
• Heavy rain and saltwater corrosion
• Stains, scratches, and heavy foot traffic
• All while staying within a tight project budget.
Our Solution
We recommended WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking — a new-generation material that ticked all the boxes. Compared to traditional solid wood, WPC offered superior weather resistance, anti-slip properties, and color stability, at a significantly lower price point.
The Cost Optimization
Just before order confirmation, the client raised a concern: the matching installation clips were overpriced. We immediately sourced clip manufacturers directly and secured the same quality at one-third of the original cost — reducing the client's total project cost substantially.
How We Executed
1. We sourced 2-3 factory candidates and conducted on-site factory audits — inspecting production lines, quality control, and delivery management.
2. We arranged samples and shipped them to the client for hands-on approval.
3. During production, we conducted mid-production and pre-shipment inspections, sending real photos and videos to keep the client informed.
4. Finally, we consolidated goods from multiple factories and arranged container loading at a single location.
The Result
The WPC decking was delivered on time and performed exactly as promised. This project became the first of many — the client has since entrusted us with sourcing stone veneer, LED light boxes, artistic paints, a custom pool table, movable acoustic walls, and more.
